Unlike many other sports, Sagamore Conference girls track
teams were spread among three sectionals Tuesday evening. As expected,
Southmont and Danville
experienced the most success. Those two squads just participated in an epic
battle for the conference championship last week. This time around Southmont
finished fifth in the South Putnam sectional and Danville was right behind in sixth. Also in
that sectional, Western Boone ended ninth, Tri West 11th, and
Crawfordsville 12th. At Noblesville, Lebanon
took a tenth place finish, and in Lafayette Frankfort placed sixth while North Montgomery wound up 11th.

Here is a summary of each team’s performance

SOUTHMONT—Advanced five individuals and two relay teams.

   The Mounties were
led by another record setting performance by their 3200 Meter Relay Team which
won the event in a sectional record time of 9:43.01. Southmont also advanced
their 4X400 Relay Team with a third place finish. The distance running barrage
continued with Creasy Clauser winning the 800 Meters in a time of 2:19, Kylie
Lippencott finishing second in the 1600 Meters and Holly Harch duplicating that
in the 3200 Meters. The Mounties also advanced athletes with a 3rd in
the Long Jump and a 2nd in the Pole Vault.

DANVILLE—Advanced
four individuals and one relay team

   The Warriors got
their 4 X 100 Relay Team through with a fourth place finish. That team was
anchored by Jessica Coccaro who advanced individually by placing third in the
100 Meters. Danville
also got advancing efforts from Lauren Callahan who was fourth in the 800 and
Abigail Brewer who placed third in the 1500 Meters. The regional team was
rounded out by a third place finish from Stephani Collisoon in the Pole Vault.

the Hot Dogs was a second place performance by Christen Kazmiecks in the Pole
Vault. They also got through their 4 X 400 Relay Team.
