BB: WOW! Tri-West Scores Twenty In Slugfest With Western Boone

It’s a good thing they missed an extra point. That has to be
the comment making the rounds in Sagamore baseball circles after Thursday
evening’s game between Tri-West and Western Boone. The Bruins hit the 20 run
mark in a 20-11 slugfest win over the Stars. The battle was called at the end
of six innings because of darkness.

Tri-West’s Brock Sellers was the star of the day, collecting
six RBIs including a two run homer in the second inning. The Bruins scored in
every inning. They needed to because Western Boone kept fighting back all
night.

After scoring five times in the top of the first, Tri-West
pitching had a hard time finding the strike zone in the bottom of the inning,
allowing the Stars to wipe the slate clean with five of their own. No problem,
Tri-West scored three more in the second, one in the third, four in the fourth,
and posted a six spot on the board in the fifth. One more run in the sixth let
them reach the 20 run plateau.

Western Boone only gathered eight hits on the evening, but
used 11 walks to stay in the game. They were still within 13-9 at the end of
four innings, but the Bruin outburst in the fifth ended all doubt.
